A new mentoring campaign where the diabetes community will help support newly diagnosed people has been launched.

The Paula Carr Diabetes Trust is inviting people already living with diabetes to take part in a new film project called Pearls of Wisdom.

The idea is for people with diabetes to share their own personal experiences and tips with people who have just been diagnosed with type 2.

Ros Debling, a trustee of the charity, has already appeared in a film to help launch the campaign.

Ros, who has had type 1 diabetes for 28 years, said: “I remember being terrified when I was diagnosed all those years ago. Diabetes is a serious and life changing disease and newly diagnosed patients need lots of help to get used to managing their condition.”
