A diabetes research centre is in the running for a prestigious award.

The Leicester Diabetes Centre (LDC) has been shortlisted as a finalist in the infographic category for the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Let’s Get Digital competition.

The entry detailed the numerous research studies and programmes which have been created by LDC, in partnership with NIHR, in a bid to combat the risk and progression of type 2 diabetes.

The NIHR Let’s Get Digital Competition is designed to demonstrate the interesting digital ways people across the NIHR can promote research, and to recognise those people who are already using video, photography, websites, infographics or online communities in interesting and exciting ways to promote NIHR research.

Explaining why LDC had made the finals, the judging panel said: “The entry was an excellent example of how using infographics can be a really effective way of presenting a lot of data at once in a digestible format. In this case the team have been able to present the results of multiple studies relating to type 2 diabetes in an engaging, quick to understand way.”

The shortlisted entries are now available to view via the Let’s Get Digital pages of the NIHR website. Winners will be decided by combining the judges’ scores with those of an open public vote.
