The dates for this year’s National Diabetes Inpatient Audit (NaDIA) have been announced.

The bedside survey, which provides a snapshot of diabetes inpatient care in England and Wales, will be held between September 26 and 30.

The audit, which is part of the National Diabetes Audit, is organised by the Health and Social Care Information Centre, supported by Diabetes UK and Public Health England and funded by the Healthcare Quality Improvement Partnership (HQIP).

The NaDIA team is currently in the process of contacting hospitals in England and Wales to gather all the required information.

The NaDIA Annual Report for 2015 will be published on Thursday, June 23 although the hospital-level analysis, which is mainly aimed at care professionals working in the participating hospitals, has already been published.

The audit looks at whether diabetes management minimises the risk of avoidable complications, harm resulting from a hospital stay and patient experience. It also compares changes in patient feedback on the quality of care since the previous audit.

Once contact details are confirmed, participating units will receive audit packs containing bedside audit forms, patient experience questionnaires and supporting information and guidance.

If you would like to express your interest in the audit or have a query then please email the audit team at NaDIA@hscic.gov.uk.
