Healthcare professionals who treat people with diabetes who observe Ramadan are invited to attend a conference dedicated to the subject in March.

The annual Diabetes in Ramadan Conference is a free-to-attend one day conference and will take place on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at the Bearsted Lecture Theatre at the Royal London Hospital.

The day has been split up into four different sessions to include the topics epidemiology and recent guidelines, managing diabetes in Ramadan and organising care, diet and therapies and woking at holistic approaches.

The event has been created by the South Asian Health Foundation (SAHF) and the Diabetes and Ramadan (DAR) International Alliance.

SAHF is a charity founded in 1999 to promote good health in the UK’s South Asian communities. It is  now one of the UK’s leading British Asian Health charities.

DAR International Alliance works with all those involved with the management of diabetes during Ramadan fasting to make it a safe and enjoyable month for those who observe it.

The goal of the organisation is to provide a better understanding of how best to manage diabetes during the month of Ramadan and as a central location for people with an interest in diabetes and Ramadan to concentrate their efforts.
