Teams of diabetes consultants, specialist nurses and dietitians have been working together to develop insulin pump therapy guidelines.

The Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) Insulin Pump Network UK (IPN-UK) Best Practice Guides have been based on the experience of a group of healthcare professionals who collectively work with over 7000 people on insulin pump therapy.

The organisation say the guides will be ready for publication early next year.

Meanwhile, the IPN-UK committee has also announced it is busy working with the National Diabetes Audit team at NHS Digital.

The aim is to to develop a type 1 diabetes national audit tool which will benchmark services and ultimately help drive improvements in care.

This audit will be in addition to the annual individual level insulin pump audit and will be launched in 2018.

The IPN-UK Network was founded to support UK healthcare professionals who are involved in the delivery of technologies designed to improve the lives of people living with diabetes.
