A new social media forum has been formed for diabetes specialist nurses to share information and ideas.

The Diabetes Specialist Nurse Forum UK has been launched on Facebook to facilitate support and encourage collaboration. More than 200 members have joined in less than one week.

Amanda Epps, the adult inpatient diabetes specialist nurse at Medway NHS Foundation Trust, founded the group.

She said: “The role of Diabetes Specialist Nurses has never been more important to improving the experience and outcomes for people with diabetes. This Facebook group provides a forum for DSNs to share information and ideas quickly; support each other and work collaboratively to continue to raise the profile of this fantastic group of healthcare professionals.”

It has already received high-profile support on the social network, including from associate national clinical director for diabetes Dr Partha Kar and Professor Jane Cummings, who is the Chief Nursing Officer for England.

The group is closed and new members must be approved. To apply to join, click here.

I would love to see a group for level 1 GPN’s as I find generic FB groups talk much more about travel, respiratory (rarely) and massively around baby imms. I feel I need to talk about more complex patients I.e DM
I have still tried to join this group just incase! As any knowledge I can have is a benefit to my care for patients
