ABCD diabetes event to celebrate 100 years of insulin
The Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD) has invited healthcare professionals to attend an in person meeting to mark 100 years since insulin was first administered to a human.
The organisation is hosting the two-day event to commemorate this landmark moment in the history of diabetes.
Entitled ‘100 Years’, the face-to-face meeting will take place on Monday, July 4 and Tuesday, July 5, after it was postponed from its original January dates.
Insulin was first used in the treatment of diabetes on January 11, 1992, when it was administered to 14-year-old Leonard Thompson, who had diabetes and was dying at the Toronto General Hospital in Canada.
During the event, registered delegates will have the opportunity to attend an optional drinks reception and dinner on July 4 at an additional cost.
