More than 250 people have attended a series of health awareness events organised by a Diabetes Specialist Nurse.

The event on Saturday, July 25, in Walthamstow.

Anna Vanderpuye, from London’s Kings College Hospital, has staged three Health Awareness Days this summer, with the latest taking place on Saturday, July 25, in Walthamstow.

Anna said: “We see patients in hospital that don’t know they have diabetes, but it is better to find people early before any complications have developed. My passion is to go out and help the general public and raise awareness of diabetes.

“I tested for diabetes and found two people with type 2 diabetes, who I then referred to their GPs.”

Anna organised the days in partnership with the churches group Lighthouse Chapel International.

The first event took place in Luton on Saturday, May 9, and the second was staged on Monday, May 25, in Walthamstow.
