Final deadline looms for Rowan Hillson Inpatient Safety Award 2022
The deadline for the annual Rowan Hillson Inpatient Safety Award is fast approaching, after it was postponed last year due to the pressures on hospital teams during the pandemic.
Healthcare professionals who demonstrated excellence in inpatient diabetes care over the last two years are invited to enter the national diabetes competition, with the deadline closing in a matter of weeks.
This year’s Rowan Hillson Inpatient Safety Award will recognise and applaud an individual who has redesigned, rebuilt and maintained safe inpatient diabetes care during COVID-19.
Organised by the Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care (JBDS-IP), this year’s award judges will be looking for applications which display hard evidence of simple and cost-efficient improvements that can easily be adopted in other Trusts. In addition, they will also be looking for projects which have been commissioned or supported by an Acute Trust.
Lead organiser, Dr Umesh Dashora, Consultant Endocrinologist and Diabetologist, said: “Over the years Rowan Hillson Awards have discovered many excellent innovations and practices throughout the country.
“I am sure this award will identify excellent novel approaches for maintaining safe in-patient diabetes care during COVID times.”
Entries will be judged against predetermined criteria by an independent panel chaired by Rowan Hillson, with the winner presented with the award at the ABCD Spring Meeting 2022. Additionally, details of the winning entry will be published on the ABCD, Diabetes UK and DISN UK Group website to share excellent practice.
Healthcare professionals have until Monday, February 28 to enter the competition. Please note this competition is only for projects undertaken during the COVID-19 pandemic.
