A free online short course looking at type 2 diabetes prevention, remission, reversal and cure has been launched.

Type 2 Diabetes Reversal: Fact or Fiction, developed by the University of Leicester, will explore the mechanisms that are thought to impact on progression and reversal of the disease.

Course participants will also explore the physiological effects of weight gain and weight loss and how those living with type 2 diabetes can help themselves, as well as the role of healthcare professionals in supporting self-management.

It has been designed for healthcare professionals with a general interest in diabetes who are looking to upskill themselves or eventually take a full diabetes postgraduate qualification.

The course will also be of interest to people looking to manage their own type 2 diabetes or those keen to prevent it from developing.

It will be led by Senior Clinical Research Dietitian, and Honorary Senior Lecturer at the University of Leicester Emma Baldry and David Webb, who is a diabetes clinician in Leicester and works for both the NHS as a hospital-based consultant and the University of Leicester as a senior lecturer.

    Dear Emma and David
This looks brilliant – very tempting intro. It should work to facilitate reversal of type 2 diabetes (or as I prefer to call it “a cure”) and I hope you attract lots of participants.
