Ensuring a safe and systematic approach to virtual consultations will be one of the latest subjects of a webinar series.

AstraZeneca is leading the way in online education in the absence of face-to-face education during the COVID-19 lockdown, with another seven online meetings planned for June.

Managing cardiovascular risk, the burden of heart failure in type 2 diabetes and value beyond glycaemic control are also topics covered in the June leg of AstraZeneca’s free webinar series for healthcare professionals.

The first webinars in the series covered type 2 diabetes and Ramadan and were staged in April and five more were held in May.

Diabetes Nurse Consultant Debbie Hicks will deliver two of the latest webinars, both titled ‘Getting the most out of your virtual clinic: ‘advantages & disadvantages’. She said: “Because of COVID-19 we’ve all been plunged into different ways of working and it’s about making sure that remote consultations are safe and effective.

“This webinar aims to give some useful tips when giving remote consultations for people with diabetes. It’s about making sure there is a safe and systematic approach to virtual consultations. I cover what you need to do before the consultation, during and after, while also emphasising the need to ensure every virtual clinic is a two-way interaction to achieve maximum benefit for the person with diabetes.”
