Leading diabetes experts to speak at inaugural inpatient conference

Professor Partha Kar OBE, the National Specialty Advisor for Diabetes with NHS England, will be among the keynote speakers at the first national conference from the UK Diabetes Inpatient Forum. 

The date has now been revealed for the online event, which will be held on Thursday, January 27, 2022, to mark 100 years since insulin was first administered to a human.

The evolution of insulin and its usage will be one focus of the virtual conference, which features a line-up of top diabetes professionals.

Professor Gerry Rayman, Consultant Diabetologist and Clinical Lead for Diabetes GIRFT, East Suffolk & North Essex NHS Foundation Trust, will chair the event.

Other keynote speakers joining Professor Kar include Dr Mayank Patel, Consultant in Diabetes and Acute Medicine, June James, Diabetes Nurse Consultant and Co-Chair of Trend Diabetes and Erwin Castro, Diabetes Nurse Consultant and Chair of the Diabetes Inpatient Specialist Nurse Group UK.

The UK Diabetes Inpatient Forum was established to share best practice and the latest developments and research in diabetes inpatient care.

Its mission is to provide high-quality education for professionals to improve inpatient care for people with diabetes.
