Medical warning issued over blood glucose test strips
A medical warning has been issued about a specific brand of blood glucose test strips.
Healthcare providers are being asked to advise users of TRUEresult and TRUEtrack test strips by Nipro Diagnostics to discard or return them if they are part of a specific batch.
The Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency have issued a medical alert warning that certain lots of test strips may give incorrect low blood glucose results that could lead to undetected hyperglycaemia.
It has been discovered that some boxes may contain an open test strip vial, which can affect the results of the readings.
However there have been no reports of any adverse events within the UK.
The list of UK affected devices and lot numbers can be found here.
This comes after a batch of TRUEyou test strips, also manufactured by Nipro Diagnostics, were found to be at risk of fault just last month.
