Nominations open for QiC Diabetes awards
The annual awards programme which recognises, rewards and shares innovative practice in diabetes management, education and services has opened.
Once again, healthcare professionals can submit their nominations for the Quality in Care (QiC) Diabetes awards. Gaining QiC recognition means an initiative has been highlighted by the NHS, patients and industry as improving the quality of life for people living with diabetes.
A spokesperson for the programme said: “#QiCDiabetes recognises the extremely challenging situation with COVID-19 and the additional and immense pressure it is placing on the incredible and dedicated people that deliver care tirelessly in the NHS, HSC and other healthcare settings whilst under significant strain and extraordinary conditions.
“We do think that it is really important to recognise, reward and share your good practice in diabetes care and have opened #QiCDiabetes 2020 for entry with a closing date of 29 May.
“We are monitoring the situation and will apply sensible judgement and update you accordingly.”
This year sees the brand new category Prevention, Remission and Early Diagnosis which recognises the impact of preventative initiatives to help people and their families and/or carers to live healthier lives and reduce the risk of developing diabetes, and of early diagnosis, and diabetes management including initiatives that result in diabetes remission.
Another new addition will also see the Diabetes Team of the Year award now open to collaborative teamwork programmes.
Now in its tenth year QiC Diabetes is open to UK & Ireland healthcare and allied healthcare professionals, NHS organisations, health and social care organisations, HSE Ireland, other healthcare organisations, patient associations, charities, professional groups, industry, public health bodies and healthcare companies.
The closing date for applications is May 29, 2020.
