Healthcare professionals wanting to enter a major diabetes awards programme only have just over a fortnight to submit their nominations.

The closing date for the Quality in Care (QiC) Diabetes awards, which recognises, rewards and shares innovative practice in diabetes management, education and services, is Friday, May 31.

Gaining QiC recognition means an initiative has been highlighted by the NHS, patients and industry as improving the quality of life for people living with diabetes.

This year sees two brand new categories. The Mind and Body Healthy Together – Emotional Wellbeing Programmes for People with Diabetes prize recognises initiatives that deliver emotional wellbeing support for people with diabetes of all ages and/or their families and carers.

The second category, Diabetes Education Programmes – Healthcare Professionals and People with Diabetes, has two entry sections.

The first part recognises initiatives for the educational needs of healthcare professionals s to advance skills and knowledge to support effective and efficient management of people with diabetes. The second part celebrates initiatives to educate and empower people with diabetes and/or their families and carers to self-manage and stay as healthy as possible.

The awards ceremony will take place at Sanofi’s Reading headquarters on Thursday, October 17, 2019.
