Diabetes technology focus of RSM meeting

Advances in diabetes technology will be showcased by a team of top specialists at a meeting taking place in June.

The ‘New Technologies in Diabetes’ event is being put on by the Royal Society of Medicine and will take place at the organisation’s headquarters at 1 Wimpole Street, London (W1G 0AE), on Thursday, June 13, 2019.

Leading experts will be discussing recent developments in diabetes technology and the psychosocial impact of the condition and its management at the CPD-accredited event, which runs from 8.45am to  4.55pm.

Speakers will go through advances in diabetes pumps, closed loop technology, islet transplants, advances in insulin delivery systems and also provide updates on the latest research. Topics include:

  • Diabetes pump technology over the last few years
  • Closed loop technology
  • Islet cell transplant technology
  • Insulin delivery technology
  • psychosocial aspects and diabetes technology

The speakers include Dr Roman Hovorka, Director of Research, WT-MRC Institute of Metabolic Science, University of Cambridge, Dr Pratik Choudhary, Senior lecturer and Consultant in Diabetes at Kings College London, and Professor Kath Barnard, chartered health psychologist, specialising in the psychosocial impact and management of diabetes.
