Upcoming webinar to focus on hybrid closed loop technology in pregnancy

Diabetes healthcare professionals are invited to sign up for a hybrid closed loop and pregnancy webinar taking place next month during Insulin Safety Week 2024.

The benefits and barriers to using hybrid closed loop insulin delivery during type 1 diabetes pregnancy will be discussed during the online event.

Taking place on Thursday, May 16, between 1pm and 2pm, the webinar will explore which hybrid closed loop systems deliver the best clinical benefits for mothers and babies.

In addition, the free-to-attend session will share practical tips for starting and optimising hybrid closed loop use throughout pregnancy, including during labour and birth.

The aim of the webinar is to help healthcare professionals:

  • Understand the impact of hybrid closed loop use on maternal glucose outcomes
  • Understand which hybrid closed loop systems offer clinically relevant time-in-range improvements
  • Increase confidence starting and optimising hybrid closed loop use during pregnancy.

Professor Helen Murphy, Professor of Medicine (Diabetes and Antenatal Care) at the University of East Anglia, will be leading the virtual event.

Alongside her academic role, Professor Murphy is also the Clinical Lead for the National Pregnancy in Diabetes Audit, which directly informs national healthcare policy.

Dr Tara Lee, Clinical Research Fellow at the University of East Anglia and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, will also be speaking during the webinar.

The online session will take place during Insulin Safety Week – a national campaign aiming to raise awareness of insulin safety within the healthcare community, with a particular focus on innovation and technology this year.
