People with diabetes can reduce their HbA1c by 10.1 mmol/mol within six months by joining an X-PERT Health education programme, according to new findings.

The 2024 X-PERT Health Audit reveals compelling evidence of the positive impact of its diabetes management and wellbeing programmes.

The results have highlighted that more than 50 per cent of participants reduced or stopped their diabetes medication after six months of using an X-PERT Health education programme.

Trudi Deakin, CEO at X-PERT Health, said: “Education is the cornerstone of diabetes care. This audit underscores the life-changing impact of structured education, which not only improves health outcomes but also alleviates pressure on the healthcare system.”

Other key findings from the 2024 X-PERT Health Audit include:

  • Reductions in body weight, BMI, waist circumference, blood pressure, cholesterol ratios, and triglyceride levels
  • A 19.9 per cent increase in participant empowerment scores
  • 2024 outcomes met or exceeded all benchmarks from the original X-PERT clinical trial.

One participant said: “I would recommend this course to anyone as the knowledge gained is priceless. Thank-you.”

More than 300,000 people have been educated on X-PERT programmes, potentially saving the NHS £367,000,000 through education not medication.

In addition, the audit celebrates excellence with the X-PERT Awards, recognising top performers across categories including Best Participant Experience, Greatest HbA1c Improvements, Medication Reduction, Weight Management, and Cardiovascular Risk Reduction at six- and 12-month milestones, as well as the X-PERT Organisation of the Year Award for outstanding programme execution.

The audit results demonstrate X-PERT Health’s continued dedication to achieving measurable, positive health outcomes. The findings highlight the enduring success of its evidence-based education programmes, which empower individuals to take control of their health and reduce the risks of diabetes.

Millions in the UK are affected by type 2 diabetes or are at risk, facing serious physical and mental health challenges.

X-PERT Health, a registered charity and a leader in diabetes education aligned with National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines, is transforming lives by empowering over half a million people with the knowledge and tools to effectively manage their condition.
