Diabetes blogger in fundraising bid
A diabetes blogger has announced plans to cycle 100 miles for Diabetes UK.
Known as Grumpy Pumper, Chris Aldred has had type 1 diabetes for more than 20 years and uses his Twitter feed to write about his condition as well as his day-to-day activities.
Chris has set a fundraising target of £700 in the Prudential Ride London because “it’s about time I put my money where my mouth is”.
The event, which takes place in August, starts in the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park and follows a 100-mile route on closed roads through the capital and into Surrey’s countryside.
Aldred, who has more than 4,000 Twitter followers, has been using his feed to promote the event and drum up support.
“Looking at the ride London route. Lots of water stops but they seem to have missed off the Stella Stops and Taleskar Tankers!” he wrote in a recent tweet.
Diabetes UK provides information, advice and support to help people with diabetes manage the condition well, and bring people together for support when it’s needed most.
