Diabetes champion talks YouTube and advocating healthy lifestyles in latest Big Interview

A diabetes ambassador with type 2 diabetes has discussed his diabetes journey and community work to help spread awareness of, and the best ways to manage, the condition.

Tony Kelly, a diabetes strategic patient partner at NHS Birmingham and Solihull CCG, spoke to DT Editor Oliver Jelly as part of the latest Big Interview.

Mr Kelly, who has never taken any medication since he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 18 years ago, has won awards for his community work surrounding diabetes. The “voice of the community” talked about his greatest achievements so far and what he believes the future of diabetes care should look like.

He also discussed hosting Birmingham’s Break Tru TV show ‘Our Health Is Our Wealth’ and his time as one of two members contributing to the Scientific Advisory Board, United Kingdom – Coronavirus Immunology Consortium (UK-CIC).
