iHealth test strips added to Drug Tariff
Blood glucose meter test strips made by iHealth are to be made available on the Drug Tariff, it has been announced.
The strips, which are compatible to the blood glucose meters iHealth Gluco and iHealth Align, will be available from Thursday, October 1.
The Drug Tariff is a monthly UK publication which is used as a reference by pharmacists or doctors dispensing in primary care, for the payment and repayment of NHS prescription costs.
As well as the costs of prescription payments for patients, it also covers the costs of appliances and blacklisted medicines.
The iHealth strips are used with a blood sample taken from a place on the body, such as the fingertip, arm or thigh, using the lancets and lancing pen.
It is then inserted into the iHealth glucometer and measures the blood glucose by analysing the reaction between the blood and the test strip.
iHealth manufactures and distributes innovative, clinically validated products for connected health. Products made by the company have been designed so they automatically sync with smartphones or tablets so that the users can view their vital health information at any time.
