Runners are being invited to take part in the Brighton Marathon to raise funds for JDRF.

The Type 1 charity has a number of guaranteed places for the event, which takes place on Sunday, April  12, 2015.

Registration is free but JDRF is looking for a pledge to raise a minimum of £500 in sponsorship.

A spokesman for the charity said: We’ll look after you every step of the way with a great support package which includes an exclusive JDRF running vest, regular e- newsletters, a photo shoot on the morning of the marathon in Preston Park and a really big cheer from our Supporter Zone on route.”

The route will take in the best of Brighton city centre and stretches of coastal road, with panoramic views of the glorious South Downs before finishing at Madeira Drive just east of Brighton pier. The final mile takes runners along Brighton seafront where they are due to be cheered on by thousands of spectators.
