The popular type 1 Diabetes Discovery Days from JDRF are back for 2020 with the first event scheduled for this Saturday in Northampton.

These free events have proven to be a great opportunity for people with type 1 to meet one another, find out about latest research and hear inspirational talks from a range of speakers.

Dates have been scheduled for discovery events in Cardiff, Derry, Liverpool, Boston, Reading, Newcastle and Aberystwyth with more expected soon.

Michael Connellan, Head of External Affairs at JDRF, said: “People always get something positive from attending a Discovery Day – whether it’s learning something new about their condition, or meeting someone with a similar type 1 diabetes experience to their own. We look forward to meeting plenty of new faces throughout 2020.”

For the third year running, Roche Diabetes Care, is headline sponsoring the series of events. Other diabetes technology companies are also expected to attend the events with industry representatives showcasing their latest innovations.

This year Roche Diabetes Care is supplying printed flyers to healthcare professionals so that they can easily inform people with diabetes about the events and ensure greatest awareness.

Roche’s spokesperson said: “In our third year as headline sponsor of the JDRF Discovery Days, we want to ensure as many people as possible are aware of these fantastic events. In the age of digital, we know there is still demand in a busy diabetes clinic for printed resources to pass on to people with diabetes and their families. If any HCP would like copies they should get in touch with their usual Roche contact.”
