Lower limb webinar to take place

Understanding the complexities of lower extremity limb assessment will be explored in an upcoming webinar hosted by the English Diabetes Footcare Network (EDFN). 

This webinar will demystify the WIfI (Wound, Ischaemia, and foot Infection) Classification System and provide practical tools to improve confidence in assessing vascular health and risks.

Developed by the Society for Vascular Surgery, the WIfI Classification System offers a comprehensive and systematic approach to assessing and categorising the three major risk factors for limb-threatening conditions.

The webinar will take place virtually on Thursday, January 30, at 7pm.

Learning outcomes

By the end of the session, attendees will have developed and enhanced their understanding of:

  • Vascular anatomy: The structure and function of lower limb blood vessels and their role in vascular health.
  • Lower limb pulses: How to identify and assess pulses in the lower limbs to evaluate overall vascular health.
  • Doppler interpretation: Confidence in interpreting Doppler findings, including understanding the meanings of different Doppler sounds and their implications for clinical decision-making.
  • The WIfI Classification System: Step-by-step guidance on using the WIfI system to assess wound severity, ischaemia, and infection.
  • Calculation techniques: How to calculate ankle systolic pressures, toe pressures, and ABPI (Ankle-Brachial Pressure Index) with clarity and accuracy.
  • Practical application: Real-world application of knowledge through a collaborative case study to consolidate learning.
