New DSN Forum UK resources released
Diabetes specialist nurses can now access online ‘how to’ guides to learn new tips and improve the care they offer to those living with diabetes.
Developed by the DSN Forum UK, these resources offer insights, tips and tools to help diabetes specialist nurses navigate the challenges of research, audits, award entries and writing for publications.
These guides aim to help diabetes specialist nurses build confidence in advanced practice skills, and ultimately improve outcomes for people living with the condition.
Beth Kelly, Director of the DSN Forum UK, said: “We recognised a growing need for accessible resources that reflect the realities of frontline care.
“Many diabetes specialist nurses receive little to no formal training in how to effectively advocate for their role, share best practice, or engage in wider professional conversations both locally and on national platforms.”
She added: “Despite being highly skilled clinicians, diabetes specialist nurses are often left without guidance on how to showcase the impact of their work or influence diabetes care at a system level.
“There is a noticeable gap in resources that support these vital professional development activities. Yet it is imperative that DSNs feel equipped and empowered to raise their heads, use their voices, and highlight the often unseen but essential work they do every day.
“These guides aim to fill that gap, providing not only practical advice, but also encouragement to step into those advocacy and leadership spaces with confidence.”
