New inpatient diabetes guidelines from JBDS now available
A recognised inpatient group has revised some of its guidelines ahead of the Diabetes UK Professional Care Conference 2023.
The Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care (JBDS-IP) has updated eight of its documents which provide guidance on key aspects of diabetes, such as frailty, hypoglycaemia and DKA.
QR codes have been added to these updated versions to make them more accessible on hand-held devices.
Healthcare professionals can now access updated versions on the following guidelines:
- The Hospital Management of Hypoglycaemia in Adults with Diabetes Mellitus
- The Management of Diabetic Ketoacidosis in Adults
- Management of Hyperglycaemia and Steroid (Glucocorticoid) Therapy
- Discharge planning for adults with diabetes
- Management of adults with diabetes on dialysis
- Managing diabetes and hyperglycaemia during labour and birth
- Inpatient Care of the Frail Older Adult with Diabetes
- The Management of Glycaemic Control in People with Cancer.
These guidelines have been revised ahead of the Diabetes UK Professional Care Conference 2023 – an annual event taking place this week which draws together the best and most up-to-date knowledge, insights, and research to address the key issues in diabetes today.
JDBS-IP is still working on updating the following guidelines:
- Hyperosmolar hyperglycaemic state (HHS)
- Enteral feeding
- Admissions avoidance
- VRIII
- Mental health
- Inpatient service
- Diabetes at the front door.
