NICE guidelines for children and young people is updated

The NICE guidelines which cover the diagnosis and management of type 1 and type 2 diabetes in children and young people aged under 18 has been updated.

In December 2020, the evidence was reviewed and recommendations relating to fluid therapy for children and young people with diabetic ketoacidosis were made.

Advice on recognition, referral and diagnosis have been provided, as well as guidance for the initial management of diabetic ketoacidosis in young people.

The guidance was first published in August 2105.
