There is just a week left for people to enter a colleague into the Diabetes Professional of the Year category at the Quality in Care (QiC) Diabetes awards.

Healthcare professionals have until July 31 to also nominate someone for the People’s Award and the Outstanding Educator in Diabetes.

The winner of the Diabetes Professional of the Year prize will have succeeded in raising standards of care over and going above and beyond their day to day role.

The People’s Award is more focussed on someone who is very special who cares for/has cared for people with diabetes and made a real difference to their lives.

The awards programme recognises, rewards and shares innovative practice in diabetes management, education and services.

Gaining QiC recognition means an initiative has been highlighted by the NHS, patients and industry as improving the quality of life for people living with diabetes.

This year sees two brand new categories, which submissions have already closed for. The Mind and Body Healthy Together – Emotional Wellbeing Programmes for People with Diabetes prize recognises initiatives that deliver emotional wellbeing support for people with diabetes of all ages and/or their families and carers.

The second category, Diabetes Education Programmes – Healthcare Professionals and People with Diabetes, has two entry sections.

The first part recognises initiatives for the educational needs of healthcare professionals s to advance skills and knowledge to support effective and efficient management of people with diabetes. The second part celebrates initiatives to educate and empower people with diabetes and/or their families and carers to self-manage and stay as healthy as possible.

The awards ceremony will take place at Sanofi’s Reading headquarters on Thursday, October 17, 2019
