WAND annual conference agenda released

The agenda has been released for the Welsh Academy for Nursing in Diabetes (WAND) annual conference, with diabetes specialist nurses (DSNs) from across Wales invited to join a free day of education, discussion and networking.
Taking place on Friday 2 October 2026 at the Leonardo Hotel in Cardiff, the annual meeting provides an opportunity for nurses working in diabetes to come together, share knowledge and explore the latest developments in diabetes care.
The 2026 programme features a broad range of topics relevant to diabetes nursing practice, including a national diabetes overview and update, a national paediatric diabetes update and a session celebrating excellence in diabetes care.
Other sessions will explore delegation of insulin administration, insulin safety and stage 2 type 1 diabetes, alongside group discussions designed to encourage delegates to share experiences and learn from colleagues working across Wales.
The programme brings together expert speakers from across the diabetes community, including senior specialist nurses, the National Dietetic Clinical Lead for Diabetes Prevention and clinical leads from NHS Wales Performance and Improvement.
As well as the educational programme, the WAND annual conference offers an opportunity for DSNs to connect with colleagues from across Wales, exchange ideas and share approaches to delivering high-quality diabetes care.
The meeting is free to attend and is open to registered diabetes specialist nurses supporting people living with diabetes across Wales.
