A recognised diabetes charity is inviting healthcare professionals to attend its first ever national wellness day in September as it marks 25 years since the organisation was formed.

The Diabetes Research and Wellness Foundation (DRWF) is celebrating 25 years in business by hosting a wellness day for the diabetes community.

Entitled ‘United Through Diabetes’, the event will take place on Saturday, September 16, at Chesford Grange in Kenilworth, Warwickshire.

The day will bring experts together from across the entire diabetes community to share their knowledge, expertise, practical skills, personal experiences and the very latest in information, guidance, services and products.

Dr Mayank Patel, Consultant in Diabetes at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust, said: “People live with diabetes day in, day out.

“Not everyone can be seen regularly by a diabetes specialist. Access to high quality education of an appropriate standard in an appropriate setting is fundamental if we are to see engangement and successful self-management.”

He added: “Education is pivotal if we are to empower people to take charge of their diabetes as much as possible. I am honour to support DRWF and the events they provide for people living with diabetes.”
