One of the UK’s leading voices in inpatient diabetes has said the future of care will be driven by technology in the latest online interview for the Diabetes Times.

Professor Ketan Dhatariya, Chair of the Association of British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD), returned to the Big Interview series to speak all things inpatient care with Diabetes Times Editor Oliver Jelley.

During the interview, Professor Dhatariya also highlighted the upcoming Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care (JBDS-IP) Conference 2026, describing it as an opportunity to ensure those caring for people with diabetes in hospital are up to date with the latest advances in inpatient care.

Taking place on Friday 3 July at The Grand Hotel Leicester, the event will bring together national and international speakers and feature JBDS updates, practical workshops and abstract presentations. Topics will include discharge planning, safe transfers of care, diabetes technology and perioperative medicine.
