Couple in parachute jump for diabetes
A couple are going to jump out of a plane to raise money for Diabetes UK.
Soni Ghatt, a receptionist at the Leicester Diabetes Centre, and boyfriend Amit are planning to do the skydive on, or around, September 27.
Soni, who is from Leicester, said: “It started off as something we always wanted to do, either that or a bungee jump, and we decided to explore a little with the use of Google. We searched skydiving and it came up with all sorts, including a charity skydive.
“This was the perfect opportunity for us to do something we wanted to do and do a good deed by raising money for charity.”
Soni has picked Diabetes UK after learning about the condition through her job at the Leicester Diabetes Centre, which is an international centre of excellence in diabetes research.
She added: “Honestly speaking, we did not know much about diabetes. This changed when I landed myself a receptionist role in the Leicester Diabetes Centre in March, where I had to research on a daily basis to update our twitter feed with info about diabetes.
“It made me realise how many individuals are affected throughout the world. By raising money for this charity, it makes us want to do our bit to help fund research and materials to help those millions out there to get the treatment and education they need.”
