Diabetes Dragons‘ Den funding scheme open for applications
A Dragons’ Den inspired scheme that financially supports diabetes projects is now open for applications.
After a successful first year in 2023, junior doctors and consultants wanting to carry out innovative research can now apply for funding through the scheme.
Hosted by the Association for British Clinical Diabetologists (ABCD), this Dragons’ Den route will appeal to the strengths of NHS clinicians with worthy clinical projects that would be important to support.
The scheme is open to junior doctors, consultants and healthcare professionals who are up to five years post Certificate of Completion of Training and without previous grant funding.
According to the ABCD, the applicant will usually have a clinical post in the UK and the research will take place at a UK institution.
One of last year’s successful grant awardees, Emma Johns, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde, said: “We are delighted to receive this recognition and support from ABCD and the Dragons.
“This is hugely beneficial to us as doctors approaching the end of our training, who may soon become involved in the design of diabetes services working as consultants.”
The deadline for video applications is at 5pm on Friday, October 4.
