DPC set to host mental health and diabetes webinar
Mental health, the pros and cons of virtual consultations and the best way to tackle anxiety or depression among those with diabetes during lockdown are to be discussed at a forthcoming webinar.
‘Minimising the emotional disconnect in your consultations‘ is the first online workshop being hosted by Diabetes Professional Care (DPC) in a bid to provide valuable resources and support to healthcare professionals amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Taking place on Thursday, May 21 at 545pm, during Mental Health Week, a series of key experts within the field of mental health have agreed to take part in the free, one hour session.
The participants are:
Dr Emma Wilmot MB ChB BSc (hons) PhD FRCP
Consultant Diabetologist, University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust Honorary (consultant) Assistant Professor, University of Nottingham Founder, Diabetes Technology Network UK
Dr Mark Davies
Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Belfast Health and Social Care Trust
Together, the hosts will discuss how COVID-19 has changed the lives of people with diabetes and how healthcare professionals can continue to maintain contact and offer support while consulting with people virtually.
Many are concerned about how people with diabetes are being mentally impacted by the enforced lockdown and the webinar will address these issues and the best way to approach those who may be struggling.
