Good practice, Low carb Type 2 diabetes Type 2 prevention Webinar

Healthcare professionals with an interest in diabetes are being invited to register for a live online course looking at the benefits of a low carb diet for people with type 2 diabetes.

An introduction to low carbohydrate management of type 2 diabetes will provide evidence of the effectiveness of a low carb intervention as a management option for people with the condition.

Organised by Dr David Cavan, Consultant Endocrinologist, the CPD-accredited course will be delivered through three evening sessions – with the first taking place on Thursday, January 27.

During the sessions, Dr Cavan will present a series of case studies and provide practical information on how to introduce a low carb approach as a management option to people with type 2 diabetes.

Dietitian Tara Kelly and practice nurse Gayle Gerry, who both have extensive expertise in low carb management of diabetes, will also share their knowledge.

Additionally, Professor Cirhuza Cikomola, Endocrinologist at the Catholic University of Bukavu, is also a confirmed guest speaker for the virtual course.

The interactive sessions will cover topics including what a low carb diet is, the role of a low carb diet in managing and reversing type 2 diabetes, adjusting medication on a low carb diet, integrating a low carb diet into your diabetes service, and how to support people in initiating and maintaining a low carb diet.
