Improving patient outcomes through communication

Will involve a series of presentations, challenging scenarios and interactive discussions aimed at improving physicians’ communication skills and increasing awareness of the positive impact this may have upon outcomes among people with diabetes.
The objective of the meeting is to share best practice and support physicians in:
- Educating about emotional intelligence and its effect on the relationship between patients and healthcare professionals
- Recognising people’s communication style, behaviour and potential barriers to communicating with patients
- Improving active listening, adapting body language and asking open / probing questions
- Helping patients to improve self-management
