Filmmaker to host Facebook chat
A filmmaker who has documented his father’s battle with diabetes is taking part in a social media Q & A on Sunday, March 1.
Anthony Whittington and his dad Geoff Whittington will be answering questions from the diabetes community between 7pm and 8 pm on the Diabetes.co.uk Facebook page.
The film ‘Fixing Dad’ follows Geoff’s fight with Type 2 diabetes and will premiere at Raindance, London, in September and Sundance, Utah, in January 2016.
Anthony, who is making the film with his brother Ian, said: “Don’t put off tackling the condition, act now even if it means putting off other things in your life; if you don’t get the answers you want from the experts don’t give up”.
Since the start of his journey Geoff, who suffers from neuropathy, diabetic foot and retinal problems, has lost 5 stone and circulation has returned to his foot.
The Q&A is one of a series of sessions being hosted by diabetes.co.uk in 2015, where people with diabetes, their families and friends are invited to talk to a range of experts including doctors, dieticians and nutritionists.
A spokesperson for diabetes.co.uk said: “Anthony and Ian Whitington’s mission is to fix their Dad. Using their collective film making experience they are documenting their dad’s journey, from diabetes sufferer to diabetic champion.“
“Their documentary film is about one man’s fight to beat advanced Type 2 Diabetes with neuropathy, diabetic foot and retinal problems. So far Geoff has lost 5 stone and circulation has returned to his foot.”
