Insulin safety CPD module released

A new module aimed at helping healthcare professionals to reduce insulin errors has been released.

The free e-learning CPD accredited programme called Six Steps to Insulin Safety has been unveiled at the Diabetes UK Professional Conference.

Developed by the Primary Care Diabetes Society (PCDS) and TREND UK, the aim of the online module is to reduce insulin errors in clinical practice.

It was created in response to the National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA) statement in 2010 which wanted a training programme put in place for all healthcare professionals who were expected to prescribe, prepare and administer insulin.

The course takes an hour to complete and users receive a downloadable certificate that can form part of their CPD log.
