New JBDS co-chair announced
The new co-chair of an influential group of senior clinicians has pledged to “raise standards” and “encourage innovations” in inpatient diabetes care.
Dr Omar Mustafa has been announced as the new co-chair of the Joint British Diabetes Societies for Inpatient Care group (JBDS-IP), alongside Professor Ketan Dhatariya.
Dr Mustafa is a Consultant Physician in Diabetes and General Internal Medicine based at King’s College Hospital in London.
He said: “I am honoured and delighted to take up the role of co-chair of the JBDS-IP. I look forward to working with colleagues and partners to raise the standards, improve quality of care and encourage innovations in inpatient diabetes care.”
Professor Dhatariya, who is a Consultant in Diabetes, Endocrinology and General Medicine at the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has led the JBDS-IP since 2019.
Dr Mustafa will work alongside Professor Dhatariya to lead the group for 12 months.
