Winner of global diabetes innovation challenge to be announced
The winner of a global type 2 diabetes innovation competition will be announced later this week.
Six finalists were whittled down from 116 entries as part of the Ascensia Diabetes Challenge, which was launched to seek out digital solutions from start-up companies and entrepreneurs that could facilitate better type 2 diabetes management and improve the lives of people with the condition.
The winner will be announced during a webcast media briefing on Friday, June 22, live from the American Diabetes Association 78th Scientific Sessions that are taking place in Orlando.
A spokesperson from Ascensia said: “During the webcast, the winner will present their innovative solution, how it has the potential to help people with type 2 diabetes and how they will be using their prize money. You will also have the chance to hear from the team at Ascensia and a member of the judging panel who will explain why they were chosen for the top prize.”
In May the finalists were asked to present their innovative idea, in a bid to receive a share of the winning cash prize fund of 200,000 Euros.
It is hoped the winner’s solution will be able to simplify and improve people’s lives, empowering them to manager doubts more effectively.
