Updated older people and type 2 diabetes guideline published
Amended guidance on the primary care management of older people with type 2 diabetes is now available for healthcare professionals to access.
The European Geriatric Medicine Society and the European Diabetes Working Party for Older People has released an updated version of the Essential steps in primary care management of older people with type 2 diabetes guideline.
Throughout the revised guidance, the recommendations focus on the safety and early detection of type 2 diabetes in older people.
The guideline also outlines classical complications of diabetes along with new complications, which include falls, frailty, depression and cognitive disorders.
Much of this initiative was spearheaded by Professor Alan Sinclair of fDROP and King’s College, London.
