Prestigious health awards presented to DSN Forum UK
The directors of the Diabetes Specialist Nurse (DSN) Forum UK have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to diabetes care with accolades at the Global Health Awards 2026.
Recognised for their commitment to advancing diabetes nursing practice, Amanda Williams, Bethany Kelly and Tamsin Fletcher-Salt were each presented with individual awards at a ceremony held yesterday at the House of Commons.
The judging panel recognised their dedication to improving patient outcomes through innovative clinical practice, education and long-term support, helping people living with diabetes to better understand and manage their condition with confidence.
Amanda Williams, Lead Nurse for Diabetes and Endocrinology at East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust, received the Healthcare Leadership & Transformation Award for her work driving improvements in diabetes services and patient care.
Bethany Kelly, Clinical Lead and Diabetes Specialist Nurse at Wiltshire Health and Care, was awarded the Clinical Leadership & Nursing Excellence Award, recognising her commitment to clinical leadership and excellence in diabetes nursing.
Tamsin Fletcher-Salt, Lead Diabetes and Endocrinology Nurse at University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust, received the Excellence in Specialist Clinical Practice Award in recognition of her expertise and dedication to specialist diabetes care.
Together, Amanda, Bethany and Tamsin continue to champion high-quality diabetes care and represent the vital role of DSNs in improving outcomes for people living with diabetes.
Their nominations were put forward by Silver Star Diabetes Charity – a UK-based charity dedicated to improving diabetes awareness and advocating for culturally inclusive healthcare across diverse communities.
Amanda said: “Receiving this award is a wonderful recognition of the passion and commitment that goes into transforming diabetes care every day.
“It is a privilege to work alongside such dedicated colleagues and to be part of a community that continues to push for better outcomes for people living with diabetes.”
She continued: “We would like to thank Silver Star Diabetes Charity for their nomination and for the incredible work they do to improve diabetes awareness and champion more inclusive care for all.”
Bethany said: “I am absolutely delighted to receive the Clinical Leadership and Nursing Excellence Award at the Global Health Awards alongside my fellow directors Amanda and Tamsin.
“The House of Commons was a beautiful setting for such a special occasion on a wonderfully hot summers night, it was a fantastic evening spent with distinguished guests, colleagues and our families.”
She added: “It is lovely to be recognised in this way for the work we do across the diabetes nursing spectrum.
“Receiving this award is both humbling and motivating, and it fuels us to continue striving for excellence and making a difference for people living with diabetes and supporting DSNs every day.”
Tamsin said: “Standing in the Commons on one of the hottest nights of the year, picking up the Excellence in Specialist Clinical Practice Award, was surreal.
“Nearly 50 years of living with diabetes myself is why this work matters to me the way it does, but the award reflects a team effort: the nurses I lead, the colleagues I collaborate with across the Midlands and Internationally, and my fellow directors at DSN Forum UK who have helped build something worth being recognised for.”
She concluded: “Huge congratulations too to Amanda and Beth, picking up their own awards on the night, and thoroughly deserved.
“A special mention as well for Silver Star Diabetes, charity of the year, doing brilliant work that deserves far more attention than one evening can give it. Grateful, and ready to get back to it.”
