Diabetes experts invited to complete oral health course

Healthcare professionals with an interest in diabetes are being invited to complete a CPD-accredited course about oral health.

Entitled ‘Diabetes and Oral Health’, the virtual course will be available to complete between Monday, November 14, and Tuesday, December 6.

The course aims to provide information regarding the links between oral health and diabetes and how to care for people with these conditions.

It also brings together the most recent guidelines and provides answers to frequently asked questions.

The modules on the course includes:

  • What is periodontitis
  • Type 2 diabetes
  • Periodontitis and type 2 diabetes
  • The role of the oral healthcare team in identification, prevention and management of diabetes
  • Practical tips and resources

A live Q&A panel discussion with the course leads will also take place virtually on Tuesday, November 29, between 6.30pm and 7.30pm.

The course leads include Miss Zehra Yonel, Professor Michael Milward, Professor Iain Chapple and Diabetes Consultant Dr Amar Puttanna.

The course is available to all healthcare professionals who care for people with diabetes and want to know more about the impacts of periodontitis and oral health.

Delegates will be provided with 10 hours of CPD points for completing the course.
