Deadline extended for Diabetes UK primary care course

The deadline for applications to Diabetes UK’s new Primary Care Leadership Programme has been extended to Sunday, November 4.

A few places are still available to attend the new programme, developed in partnership with the Leicester Diabetes Centre and Primary Care Diabetes Society (PCDS) and funded by AstraZeneca.

It aims to spread improvement beyond the consultation room and across practices, supporting and growing local leaders to improve diabetes care.

The pilot programme is for any professional working in primary care with the enthusiasm and passion, and tangible ideas for improving diabetes care in their local area.

It will take place in London on December 4 and 5, 2018, with a follow up on January 29, 2019. The course is free to attend. Applications are open until 23 October 2018. For more information and to apply visit: www.diabetes.org.uk/primarycare-leaders.

The charity said: “With the prevalence of diabetes increasing rapidly, primary care is fundamental to the delivery of effective diabetes prevention and care. Strong leaders within the primary care setting can transform the quality and efficiency of diabetes care across local areas. In doing so, they have a positive impact on patients’ clinical outcomes, their personal wellbeing and NHS finances.”

The programme will also be an opportunity for clinicians to identify both barriers and solutions to improving care, and network with colleagues from across the country.”
