Europe’s largest diabetes forum has got into the spirit of Halloween by releasing a free spook-inspired cookbook.

Diabetes.co.uk, which has more than 121,000 members affected by diabetes, has published the Halloween Cookbook, which is available to download and includes recipes like ‘Spidery jelly’.

diabetes.co_.uk-black-1024x255A spokesman for the website said: “Halloween is thought to be a scary time for children, it can also be very scary for parents with diabetic children. With the right planning and preparation, no one will miss out on the Halloween fun this year.

“By keeping an eye on carbohydrates, fats and portion sizes, Diabetes.co.uk has come up with a delicious Halloween Cookbook. The only thing you will be left to worry about is what’s in the trick or treat bag. Just because people have diabetes it does not mean they should miss out on a delicious selection of spooky favourites.”

The Diabetes.co.uk website hosts a Food and Recipe section with over 3,450 free recipes.

A recent survey carried out by the team at global diabetes community Diabetes.co.uk, revealed that over half of people with diabetes interviewed still buy treats and just eat smaller quantities. Only a quarter bought them to increase their blood sugar levels. Only five per cent rarely or never buy chocolate or treats.
