Job summary
ABUHB has committed to investing in Diabetes technology and we have an exciting new opportunity to expand our insulin pump service. We are seeking a Dietitian with significant post registration Diabetesexperience to join our team and enable this valuable service development.
As the successful post holder you will provide leadership and clinical guidance to the team of Diabetes dietitians working within secondary care, releasing the current Lead Dietitian to focus on the expansion of DAFNE education and the Pump service. You will work as part of a supportive MDT, across the specialist areas covered by the secondary care Diabetes Team, which include inpatients, young adults, and antenatal. You will also provide clinical input in the new enhanced pump service. Your leadership duties will include support of the team of 5.0 WTE band 6 and 1.0 WTE band 5 rotational Dietitians and provide day to day operational management duties. These will include completion of development reviews and assisting the Professional Manager to manage attendance and oversee outpatient waiting list performance for this clinical area. ABUHB have a well established leadership development course to help you build your non clinical skills.
Whilst this post has been advertised as full time, applications from those wishing to work alternative hours will be considered.
Main duties of the job
This post will sit within the team of dietitians providing a service within the acute setting in Aneurin Bevan University Health Board.You will be a member of the Adult Senior Team and have the support of band 7 colleagues working alongside you across the 4 acute sites. Your development needs will be supported by the Professional Manager and Deputy Head of Service.
We are a team of 38 dietitians working from 4 main hospital bases (GUH, RGH, NHH and YYF), across the specialities of Nutrition Support, Critical Care, Gastroenterology, Stroke, Oncology and Diabetes and have the support of a team of 10 dietetic support staff and 3 ward based nutrition assistants. We value both staff and service development and actively participate in the dietetic student training programme for Wales.
The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
